Some aggrieved members of the Taraba State chapter of the United Democratic Party (UDP), has accused the former minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Senator Aisha Jumai Alhassan, of hijacking the party, thereby setting some founding members of the party on edge.
A UDP aspirant for Jalingo 1 state constituency, Hon. Abba Yusuf, who spoke to LEADERSHIP during an exclusive interview yesterday in Jalingo said the United Democratic Party in Taraba State is now divided into two factions.
“As I speak with you, the UDP that Tarabans use to know is no longer the party that was working hard to capture power from the PDP.
“Ever since Senator Aisha defected from APC to UDP, she divided the party members into two calibres, we have the old members and the Senator Aisha’s group who recently dumped APC for UDP because of selfish interest.
“Immediately she joined the party, the quickly dissolved the old executives of the party and replaced them with those she felt would work for her interest” he lamented.
He noted that the former minister replaced the real executive members of the party with those who lost their primaries from the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“This attitude of Senator Aisha is to ridicule the original members who have suffered for the party that she came and dominated,” he added.
He called on the national secretariat of the UDP to call Aisha to order, adding that her spirit of dominance would make it difficult for the party to win the forthcoming general elections.
