Tosan said, “The administration of President Buhari is doing well in the area of health care services of the country, however, the science laboratory is lacking, we in Nigeria have not get to the standard of MLSCN.
“More science laboratory should be accredited to a standard, if our people know that the science laboratory is accredited to standard, they will not go abroad for health care services, because they are going to accredited laboratory abroad,” he said.
According to him, “we are calling on government to gives us more backing to ensure that the teaching hospital and medical centre are accredited with science laboratory.”
Earlier, the managing director, Labor Research Laboratories and Medical Centre Prof. Dennis Edo Agbonlahor said, “For good health care, more science laboratory need to be accredited, to ensure that medical laboratory services delivered to citizens meet laboratories in Nigeria.
“Universities running the degrees programme should ensure the provision of direct entry clauses for qualified Technicians and Assistant in order to encourage further educational development of this cadre of laboratories,” he said.
He urged science laboratories practitioners to carry out their practice ethically and the regulatory body together with the association must ensure that erring members are brought to book in accordance with extant laws and regulations.
