Niger Gov Recalls Suspended Revenue Board Chair

Amidst controversy over  the reasons behind the suspension of the chairman,  Niger State Board of Internal Revenue  Service , Alhaji Jibrin Yusuf Habibu, Niger State governor, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello, has ordered his immediate reinstatement.

A statement from the office of the Secretary to the Government of Niger State (SSG) and signed by Information Officer, Lawal Tanko  said the re-instatement of the suspended chairman was based on the outcome of investigation.

The statement declared that the governor having satisfied with the investigation and found him not wanting in the discharge of his statutory duties has decided to reinstate him.

The governor enjoined the chairman to expedite actions towards improving the internally generated revenue of the state.

The chairman according to the statement was urged to reciprocate the gesture by working assiduously to justify the confidence reposed in him.

Meanwhile the chairman was said have been suspended based on allegation of impropriety and general performance of the board in meeting targets in face of heavy expenditures embarked upon by him.

It was also learnt that the general lack of professionalism in the board was attributed allegedly to the mass posting of the grounded and trained professionals from the board to other agencies where they are less relevant.
