A governorship aspirant under the platform of the All Progressives Congress, (APC) in Abia State, Prince Okey Chemberline Adiaso, has said that Northern elders will not determine whether President Muhammadu Buhari will contest the 2019 presidential or not as his ambition in 2019 does not depend on the wishes and caprices of the northern elders.
In his reference to the declaration of some groups in the North, including the Arewa Consultative Forum and the Northern Elders Forum that they are shopping for a consensus candidate because the president has failed the nation, Adiaso said that for now, there is no alternative to Buhari to fly the flag of the party in the 2019 presidential election as he has done reasonable in all sectors of the Nigerian, social, economic and political life.
Adiaso, who spoke to newsmen in his Obichukwu village in Isiala Ngwa South local area of Abia state, after declaring his ambition to contest the 2019 governorship election, said that what the Northern leaders were saying was their own opinion, which did not represent the opinion of the whole north.
He described their opinions as coming from members of the opposition parties who knew that the president has done a lot, adding that President Buhari has done so well that his programmes and achievements will sell him to Nigerians in 2019.
Adiaso, who said that he shared in the visions and aspiration of the president, noted that it is the same vision that would drive him in his quest to govern Abia state, stressing that his quest is to make Abia greater again.
He said, “My stand on the opinion of ACF, NEF and those other groups on the Buhari presidency in 2019 is that it is a mere propaganda from opposition party members who knows the president’s pedigree as a man of impeccable character. When Buhari came to power, it had nothing to do with those groups alone. He came to power on the consensus of all Nigerians because he stands for the truth.”
Prince Adiaso highlighted that his intention is to fix Abia as the state is in total decay it is wish to correct what he described as the systematic decay and collapse of industries and other infrastructures in Abia state.
He said, “Go to Abia State today, where are those Ceramic industries, Leather industries that were established by Late Dr, Michael Okpara. These have all collapsed leading to the suffering of the people and lack of jobs for the teeming youths of the state. My state Abia is in dare need of a pragmatic leader, who will take Abia to the next level”, saying that he has the mindset to return Abia to its lost glory by massive job creation.”
The guber aspirant said that his ambition is to serve his people in the most credible and transparent as the President has done in Nigeria, stressing that his five-point agenda, which he will unfold later, includes job creation, poverty alleviation, industrialisation, and infrastructural development.
