Former Governor of Jigawa State and a Presidential hopeful, Alhaji Sule Lamido said he is not intimidated by the Presidential ambition of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on the same political platform.
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar recently returned to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to contest for the presidency come 2019.
Speaking to Journalists in Kaduna, the Presidential Coordinator of Sule Lamido in the North West, Alhaji Sani Liti Yankwani said Sule Lamido is never threaten by the Presidential ambition any member of the PDP, adding that the aspirations by members of the party shows that the PDP is ready to take back power in 2019.
According to him, over 2 million northern youths have expressed interest in working for the actualization of the Sule lamido presidency in 2019.
Yankwani said, unlike in 205 when people were afraid to work against the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari, this time the youths want a change as most of the promises made by the APC government has remained unfulfilled.
He stressed that the campaign for the presidency has moved beyond sentiments and emotions and people have started asking critical questions that would inform their choices in the next general elections.
“This is different from 2015 when sentiments were high because northerners were told that Jonathan did not like them and was not doing anything to stop Boko Haram. This time the people have tested the capability of the APC and have seen their limitiations,” he said.
He said even in kastina where Buhari hails from, it is evident that the people are not satisfied with the performance of the current administration and have started asking for change.
The coordinator said the PDP stands a good chance of winning the next election if the party fields Lamido who he said is an experienced administrator and politician with record of achievement to his credit when he served as minister for foreign affairs and later governor of Jigawa State for eight years.
“What is in fact particularly imperative is for the PDP members and all northerners to correctly analyze the aspiration of the former minister and governor and give Lamido the opportunity to use his wealth of experience to serve the nation,” he said
