As the scheming towards 2019 elections gets intense across the federation, the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Sokoto State chapter in conjunction with the state All Progressive Congress (APC) have organized a forum to bring all elected lawmakers to account for their two years stewardship.
The elected lawmakers include both those at the National Assembly (Senate and House OfRepresentatives) as well as those in the State House of Assembly.
The forum tagged, “Stewardship Forum For Sokoto State Members Of National And State Assembly,” would be the first of its kind in the quest to hold elected lawmakers accountable to their respective constituencies.
According to a statement signed by the state NUJ secretary, Abdallah El-Kurebe, a copy of which was made available to LEADERSHIP, the forum will commence today, Wednesday, 28 June 2017.
The statement reads in part, “The forum will be an opportunity for these elected lawmakers to give public account to their electorate about their individual contributions at the assemblies.
“It will also afford them the opportunity to render accounts of their oversight functions, as well as how far they have gone in the realisation of their party’s manifesto,” it added
