As the 2019 general elections draw near, the Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON) Taraba State chapter has thrown its weight behind the second term bid of the state governor, Darius Ishaku.
Briefing newsmen yesterday in Jalingo, the state ALGON chairman, Hon. Ibrahim Stephen Agya said Governor Ishaku need a second term in order to complete the good work he has started in Taraba State.
“We in ALGON and indeed given reports received from all the local government areas in the state, the grassroots support base of Governor Ishaku is awesome and as the closest elected representatives of the masses, it is only proper that we reecho this stand of the people believing in the truism that ‘the voice of the people is the voice of God’.
We are all very much aware, this mandate was freely and democratically given to him overwhelmingly by Tarabans in 2015,” he said.
He added that the giant stride of Governor Ishaku resonates with the yearnings and aspirations of the people.
“As it is expressed in development parlance, Ishaku has demonstrated that he can be trusted having been tried and not found wanting in every aspect of governance,” he added.
According him, Ishaku as an astute technocrat, development expert and crisis manager par excellence has successfully handled issues of development by executing people oriented projects that have direct impact on the people of the state.
“We are all living witnesses to the physical transformation in the state especially, several road networks in Jalingo that have eased movement of people, goods and services. You may wish to note that simultaneously, other road projects like the Wukari to Tsokundi and Mararraba Pantisawa are also ongoing in local government areas through the prudent management of scarce resources,” he explained.
