The Nigeria Police Force has declared embattled Kogi West senator, Dino Melaye fit to face trial.

This is even as the embattled Senator has urged the police to relocate him to National Hospital after three days of treatment in Police Medical Center.

Senator Melaye, who went into hiding for eight days and surrendered on Friday last week claimed he is not medically fit to face trial.

Certifying the Senator medically fit to stand trial, the Police Authority described the senator’s request and his actions so far as ‘Nigerian Home video part 2’.

The AIG in charge of  Police Medical, AIG Kaomi Amadu faulted him based on medical records from expert.

Recall that Dino, in company of some senators surrendered to the Police after a week siege at his residence in Maitama area of Abuja.

The Senator is however believed to have surrendered to the operatives after some  Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) lawmakers went to his house to persuade him.

Police source at the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad  (FSARS),  said after he surrendered, the Police team were on their way to their office to commence interrogation  when the senator fainted due to asthma attack.

After attempts to resuscitate him with his inhaler failed, the Police had to take him to an undisclosed hospital for proper treatment.

The Police had insisted during the week long siege that its officers would maintain the siege up until the senator is arrested or surrenders himself for investigation.

Subsequently, water and electricity supply to the senator’s residence was cut off to force him out.

The senator is wanted by the Police for a case of Criminal Conspiracy and attempted culpable homicide, committed on 19th July, 2018, when him and his armed thugs allegedly attacked Police personnel; shot and wounded Sgt. Danjuma Saliu, attached to 37 Police Mobile Force (PMF) on stop and search duty along Aiyetoro Gbede, Mopa Road in Kogi State.

After the said incident, the Police sent a letter to the Senator through the Clerk of the National Assembly in July 2018 but the invitation was not honoured.
