Russia Develops Missile With 4,500-Kilometre Range, Report

Russia develops missile with 4,500-kilometre range

Russia is developing a cruise missile with a range of more than 4,500 kilometres, State Media reported on Tuesday, citing an undisclosed source in the defence industry.

The weapon, reportedly to be supplied to the military by 2027, is supposed to be part of the nuclear-capable Kalibr family of ship- and submarine-based missiles.

Russia’s Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty with the United States does not restrict sea-launched missiles.

The planned Kalibr-M missile should be able to carry a warhead weighing about one tonne, Russian state news agency TASS reported.
