Amaechi: Leaked Audio Blackmail Against S’ South – Group

A socio-political group, ‘The Integrity Group’ has described the release of recorded statement where the minister of transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, is heard making uncomplimentary comments about the present administration as a sheer blackmail against the South-South region of the country.

A statement signed by the group’s director of publicity, Livingstone Wechie, which was made available to LEADERSHIP in Abuja yesterday, lamented that the audio was fake and regretted that fake news has gone extreme in Nigeria, to the point where honest, frank and private conversations can be contrived to destroy an individual’s reputation and that of his region.

The group noted that the release of the audio was squarely targeted at setting up Rotimi Amaechi for political assassination, particularly at this era of desperate campaigns.

The group asserted that the audio revealed a lot of distortions on the said conversations to suit an evil end and to desperately paint the minister in bad light before his principal and the public.

Wechie therefore cautioned politicians to be more creative in their campaigns and to generate competitive debates that would trigger citizenship engagement for national development.

He continued: “Politicians at this time must involve themselves in conversations that will deal with the fundamentals of our nationhood in pursuit of development and not to inundate the citizenry with deception and waste the time of the unsuspecting public.

Unfortunately, while more mischievous reports and calumnies may be in the offing from various fronts against this campaign period moving forward, we charge Nigerians to be on guard and insist on candidates that genuinely put forward issue-based campaigns that will better our lives and help our citizens to live their dreams within ample opportunities.”
