Gunmen Invade Katsina Village, Kill 4

Published

on

Four people were killed on Tuesday at Yar Santa in Kankara local government area of Katsina State by suspected gunmen.

Sources said that the hoodlums attacked the victims who were returning from Kankara market at about 6pm, adding that pandemonium ensued as the gunmen on motorcycles shot sporadically into a group of villagers who ran in different directions.

It was also gathered that another attack was launched by the bandits yesterday morning when the four people killed on Tuesday were being buried according to Islamic rites.

The hoodlums were however repelled by local vigilantes in the community.

The spokesman of the state police command, Superintendent Isah Gambo, who confirmed the incident, said that normalcy had returned in the village as security operatives had been mobilised to the areas.

Gambo urged the residents to assist security agencies with credible information on the suspected gunmen terrorising them.

Most residents in the state have been gripped with fear in the last few weeks following the increasing spate of kidnapping and banditry on the highways and in homes.

“We have seen too many cases of abduction and armed robbery in the state; the roads to Kankara and several towns have become no go areas,” a trader in Kankara told LEADERSHIP yesterday.
