Presidential Poll: APC Targets 3m Votes In Katsina

The chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Katsina State, Alhaji Shittu S. Shittu, yesterday said the state has the capacity to lift the votes for President Muhammadu Buhari in this month’s presidential poll by a minimum of three million votes.

Shittu made this known in the Presidential Banquet Hall of the Old Government House, Katsina, during the disbursement of empowerment packages donated by the Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Hajiya Hadiza Bala Usman, to thousands of men and women across the state.

He commended the NPA boss and other stalwarts of the ruling party for complementing the efforts of government at all levels to reduce the challenges the party faithful and others are facing and for the continued success of the party.

Meanwhile, the latest statistics on defection of chieftains of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling APC showed that the number grew to 90% as at last month in Katsina State, according to governor Aminu Bello Msari.

Speaking while receiving the North West Zonal Presidential Campaign Council led by Senator Muhammad Magoro, the governor informed that no fewer than 90% of PDP stalwarts in the state had defected to the APC.

Masari, who assured that the party would continue to receive supporters of PDP and other political parties for landslide victory in the general elections expressed confidence that President Muhammadu Buhari would give the country transparent and credible leadership and return the nation to the path of growth and development.
