Appeal Court Gives APC Approval To Campaign In Rivers

Published

The Court of Appeal sitting in Port Harcourt has granted a Stay of Execution Order on the judgement of the Federal High Court presided over by Justice Kolawole Omotosho, which delisted candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from the final list of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The three-man panel of the Appeal Court, led by Justice Ali Gumel, granted the Stay of Execution after counsel to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ferdinand Orbih, SAN, urged the panel to withdraw themselves from hearing the matter.

The Court, however, granted a request to withdraw himself from the matter.

The Court, however, adjourned to February 13, 2019, for hearing on remaining motions of the appeal, which was brought by the APC.

Recall that Court of Appeal last Monday granted a Stay of Execution Order on the judgement of the Federal High Court, which barred the APC from campaigning for the general elections.
