Iwobi On Target As Arsenal Edge Out Huddersfield

Published

on

Alex Iwobi ended his seven-game goal drought with the curtain-raiser in Arsenal 2-1 win over Huddersfield Town at John Smith’s Stadium

The Nigeria international last scored a goal in the EPL in December when Arsenal beat Burnley 3-1

Iwobi has now had a hand in 11 goals (four goals and seven assists) so far this season, a feat he has surpassed since he started off at Arsenal.

He shot the Gunners into the lead after 16 minutes with a half volley and on the stroke of half time. Alexandre Lacazette doubled the lead with a simple tap in.

The Gunners had taken a single point from their past five away league games and were without Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Mesut Ozil and Aaron Ramsey for Saturday’s trip to Yorkshire.

Huddersfield, rock bottom of the Premier League, offered little resistance but did at least score for the first time since Jan Siewert replaced David Wagner as head coach thanks to Sead Kolasinac’s late own goal.
