NTI In Good Hands, Minister Declares

The minister of State for Education, Prof. Anthony Anwukah, has hailed the leadership of the National Teachers’ Institute (NTI), Kaduna, saying that it is in good hands.

Anwukah stated this at the recently-concluded nationwide capacity building workshop for teachers at the basic educational level organised by the NTI under the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The minister said that the Federal Ministry of Education had worked closely with NTI to ensure that the 2018 edition of the workshop was successful.

He said: “The project being handled by NTI is entrusted in good hands. It is also necessary for me to acknowledge the presence of distinguished and honourable members of the state and National Assemblies in sponsoring bills that seek to improve the quality of education in the country.”

The chief host and Kogi State governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, represented by the secretary to the state government (SSG), Dr. Folasade Arike, said that the continuing professional development of teachers was key to ensuring the needed solution to the problems bedeviling the education sector.

He lauded the federal government for organising the nationwide capacity building workshop for teachers.

In his welcome address, the director-general of NTI, Prof. Garba Azare, described the programme for teachers as a good thing for them.

Azare said that during the workshop, about 3,700 teachers nationwide were trained on the four thematic areas of language communication skills, effective classroom management skills, basic classroom teaching methods and techniques and ICT.
