The Adamawa State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Kassim Gaidam, has denied that he was rejected a bribe of $1million and a house in Dubai from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubabakar.

In a statement issued yesterday by the spokesman of the commission, Rifkatu Duku, the REC called on the good people of Adamawa State and other Nigerians to disregard the fake report.

He described the report as the figment of the infantile imagination of its authors which has no basis on facts.

Duku said: “The attention of the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Adamawa State, Barr. Kassim Gaidam has been drawn to a fake news report making headlines to the effect that the he rejected an offer of a bribe to the tune of $1million and a house in Dubai from the PDP presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

“We wish to refute this story as not emanating from the REC. The REC is at present focused on efforts to deliver free, fair and credible elections and has no time for indulgence in distractions intended by the peddlers of the falsehood.

“We call on the good people of Adamawa State and indeed all Nigerians to disregard this fake story as the figment of the infantile imagination of its authors which has no basis on facts!

“The REC is at present focused on efforts to deliver free, fair and credible elections and has no time for indulgence in distractions intended by the peddlers of the falsehood,” Duku stated.
