‘Why Hawkers Dot Abuja Streets’

Senatorial candidate for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), under the platform of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Dr Somadina Johnson Anene has promised to sponsor an investment bill to improve ways of doing business in the territory, if elected into office.

Anene, explained that the investment bill, if passed into law, would ensure that larger markets are built to accommodate all the traders like was done in other states of the federation.

He attributed the increasing number of hawkers on FCT streets to the inability of many traders to pay for shops, due to the high amount needed for such shops.

The senatorial hopeful said that he has been empowering people, including traders, adding that when he becomes a senator, he would do more using his constituency allowance.

“If you are doing business under a conducive environment, it will not only enhance the economy, but also create employments.

I have been using my personal money to empower Nigerians and traders too,” he added.
