The House of Representatives candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Mr Micah Jiba has been declared winner of Saturday’s National Assembly election for the AMAC/Bwari Federal Constituency in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The Returning Officer, Prof. Rebecca Ndana, who made the declaration said that Jiba got a total of 174,377 votes to defeat the closest contestant and candidate of All Peoples Congress (APC) Mr Mustapha Lamido who got 82,761 votes.
In an interview with journalists after the declaration, Jiba, a former Chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), said he was excited for his success at the polls.
He commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for conducting a free and fair election.
The rep-elect promised to carry everybody along and to be a worthy representative of the people irrespective of creed or political affiliation.
“I am very happy, this is not the first time that I am emerging as a winner but I am seeing this victory as new.
“I will make sure I carry everybody along because I have that believe power comes from God and God has given it to me today and tomorrow it might be someone else.
“I want to assure all my fellow contestants that I will carry them along,” he said.
On the process of the election, Jiba said that the outcome of the election beat the expectations of many constituents.
The Rep-elect said that the process was satisfactory and that there was no news of violence.
He said that both the electorate and candidates had witnessed a credible election.
