National Council Of Sports Extra Ordinary Meeting Holds In Benin



The Extra-ordinary meeting of the National Council on Sports holds tomorrow, March 12, 2019 in Benin City, Edo state.

  The meeting which is the first of its kind since Edo State was given the right to host the 2020 National Sports Festival, will the review the 19th National Sports Festival held in Abuja, including the status of beach volleyball as one of the medal events for NSF, zonal eliminations for team sports, sports for 2020 NSF and medical guidelines.

  Other issues to be discussed include proposed date for the 20th National Sports Festival and an inspection of facilities which will take place a day before the Technical Session.

Preceding the Council meeting will be the ‘Technical Session’ to be chaired by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, Mr. Olusade Adesola on Thursday.

The Executive Governor of Edo State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, his deputy, Mr Phillip Shuaibu, president of the Nigeria Olympic Committee, Engr. Habu Gumel, State Commissioners of Sports, Chairmen of States’ Sports Councils and State Directors of Sports are expected to attend the meeting.

The National Council of Sports, is the highest policy making body for sports in Nigeria and decides the rules and regulations as well as other logistics for the National Sports Festival.
