The Nigeria Network of Religious Leaders Living With or Affected by HIV /AIDS (NINERELA), has said that gender equality will build a better world.
The national coordination of NINERLA, Amber Erinmwinhe, who disclosure this at a solidarity roundtable to commemorate the 2019 International women’s day, in Abuja.
The event which is marked every March 8 to advance the cause of women all over the world, the theme of this year’s is “balance for better”.
Erinmwinhe said, “On International Women’s Day, women across the world come together to force the world to recognize these inequalities while also celebrating the achievements of women who have overcome these barriers.
“Gender equality will builds a better world. Providing women with equal access to education, health care vocational training and economic opportunities that benefits societies and the world at large.
“A gender pay gap persists across the globe and women are still not present in equal numbers in business or politics, figures show that globally, women’s education, health and violence towards women is still worse than that of men,” she said.
She further said that, in the past couple of years, women’s rights have dominated the news, with gender parity still an apparent 168 years away, many are hoping the women’s rights climbs as the year continues trajectory surrounding.
