Adamawa PDP Asks INEC To Declare Fintiri Governor-elect

The Adamawa State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has demanded that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declares it candidate,  Alhaji Ahmadu Fintiri, as the winner of the March 9 governorship election.

Former governor Boni Haruna said that the PDP had established that the number of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) collected in the 44 polling units of 31,027 votes were less than 40,988 registered votes, which was less than margin win of 32,476 votes of the PDP.

Haruna said that in the alternative, INEC should go for a re-run of the governorship polls, adding that the commission should furnish the party with the number of PVCs collected by each of the 44 polling units where the re-run would be conducted.

“We are taken aback by INEC that the declaration of the governorship election is inconclusive in the state.

“INEC should provide the number of accredited voters during the last governorship elections in each of the affected 44 polling units d.

“Electoral materials for the re-run election should be distributed transparently. The re-run election should hold without further delay,” he said.

When contacted, Comrade Mustapha Salihu, APC vice chairman Northeast on the matter, he said that the party had rejected the result of the election.
