The Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) has appointed Engr Joseph O. Odigure as its Registrar.
His appointment which takes effect from March, 2019 was approved at the council’s 160th Ordinary Council Meeting held on the 20th of December, 2018 in Abuja.
According to a statement issued by the council’s Head of Public Relations, Mrs Haruna Ojonugwa, Engr Odigure takes over from Engr. W. Kamila Maliki who served two terms as Registrar of COREN from March 2013- March 2019.
Until his appointment as the Registrar of COREN, Engr (Prof) Joseph O. Odigure was a Lecturer at the Federal University of Technology Minna. He is a Professor in the Chemical Engineering Department.
Engr Odigure who was born on 2nd October, 1959 at Onisha attended the Belarus National University of Technology, Minsk, Belarus is a Registered Engineer, and a member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers. He is also an Honorary Fellow of the Australian Institute of High Energetic Materials as well as a Fellow of the Nigerian Association of Technologists in Engineering.
He was a member of Covenant University Ota, Vision 10, 2022 (1 of the 10 global Universities by 2022) and a forerunner of Open Distance and e-Learning (CODeL) Programme in Nigeria.
His working career started at the Federal University of Technology, Minna where he did his one year compulsory National Youth Service in 1990 and was later employed as lecturer 1 in 1991 rising to the rank of Professor of Chemical Engineering in the same University.
Following the appointment of Engr Odigure, the management of COREN in its usual manner has organised a exit retreat for both the outgoing and incoming Registrars to ensure smooth transition of power and to familiarise the management of COREN with the plans and programme of the new Registrar.
