Cross River State governor, Ben Ayade, is committed to the eradication of tetanus among residents of the state.
The director-general (DG) of Cross River State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr Betta Edu, stated this yesterday, during an advocacy visit to the commissioner for Education, Mr. Godwin Ettah, at the maternal neonatal tetanus elimination week.
Edu stated that Ayade was committed to the eradication of tetanus in the state as Cross Rivers gears up towards another round of maternal neonatal tetanus elimination.
The DG declared that Ayade is one governor in the country who is committed to ensuring that there is increased quality of life for the people of the state as he took pains to deliver almost all his campaign promises.
Edu said: “By the grace of God, the governor has delivered on almost all the promises he made to the people and so determined to do more with our agency in collaboration with your ministry and our development partners.
“We need you to grant us access to persons within the age limit that are still in school as well as advocate to the Obolopon of Ugep, since Yakurr is among the 12 LGAs where the activities will take place.
“This administration will continue to support maternal neonatal tetanus elimination and other diseases that have increased neonatal mortality. We strive to make tremendous impacts on women and children; we implore the people to take full advantage of this intervention package,” Edu said.
She noted that the exercise will take place in 12 LGAs across the three senatorial districts beginning from 27th March -31st March, 2019.
In his remarks, Eta charged health workers in the state to be committed to their duties.
He assured the agency of his support for the exercise and promised to ensure that all schools are opened to health workers, stressing that ‘’a child that is healthy will live a super healthy life and will perform exceedingly well in school.
