The Edo State Government will on Friday lead the newly elected candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to an interdenominational thanksgiving service, following the successful outing of the party in the general elections.

Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Communication Strategy, Crusoe Osagie, said the event will hold at the Samuel Ogbemudia College, formerly New Era College, in Benin City, the state capital.

According to the governor’s aide, “The essence of the service is to thank God for the successful conduct of the general elections and the overwhelming victories of our party, the APC.

“We are thanking God for the violence-free electoral process that produced the various candidates of the party in the state.”

Osagie added: “The governor is particularly delighted at the massive turnout of voters, especially in the House of Assembly election and the resulting dominance of the APC, after his grassroots campaigns.

“We are calling on all Edo people and residents, leaders of our great party and our teeming members and supporters to come to Samuel Ogbemudia College, formerly New Era College, on Friday, March 22, 2019 by 10am, to give thanks to God for his abundant grace upon our state.”

He maintained that unlike other parts of the country, where violence and in some cases, deaths, characterised the elections, “the elections in Edo State were peaceful and without the loss of life.”
