Goodbye Nail Fungus

Published

on

Nail fungus is a very common condition amongst many. There are more than 1.5 million cases per year in Nigeria. It can be an unsightly condition that causes the nails to be thickened, crumbly, and brittle. It is most commonly affects the toe nails. Men are more likely than women to get toe nail fungus. The older you are, the higher the chances. People who are diabetic, smokers, those with weak immune systems, and those who spend a lot of time in water are at a higher risk as well.

You help prevent the growth or reoccurrence of toe fungus by taking certain repercussions. Firstly, remember to wash your feet with water and antibacterial soaps. Remember to dry your feet properly, including in between the toes. Trim your toe nails, straight across and low. Make sure you disinfect the tools you use -wash them with soap and wipe down with rubbing alcohol. You might want to hide the discolored nails by applying nail polish.

That is a bad idea, your nails need all the air it can get. Covering it up may impede the healing process. Finally, choose footwear wisely. If you are prone to sweating on your feet always wear socks. You should choose socks that wick moisture away. Avoid tight shoes and stick to materials that allow air to pass through e.g. canvas, mesh, or leather.
