Killings: Al-Makura Orders Security Agencies To Fish Out Perpetrators

The governor of Nasarawa State, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, has directed security agencies to fish out the killers of 18 persons in the state last Sunday.

Al-Makura disclosed this, yesterday, shortly after an un-scheduled visit to Akwanga General Hospital, to sympathise with the victims of the attack.

The governor also visited the palace of Chun Mada, Samson Gamu Yare, where he felicitated with the royal father and his subjects over the unfortunate incident.

It would be recalled the suspected herdsmen attacked Numa village near Andaha, in Akwanga local government area, where 16 persons including a pregnant woman were killed, while two later died in the hospital on Monday, evening.

Governor All-Makura, who condemn the attack and the killings, also disclosed that he has directed for a permanent security outfit that will be stationed within the vicinity of villages to ensure that such incident does not repeat itself.

“The incident that happened two days ago is to say the least and this is very worrying for us in Nasarawa State because we have enjoyed tremendous amount of peace between the herders and farmers”

“My administration will not allow this because we have a joy, peace and stability in the state in the last three years”

“We have not had this report of killings in the last three to four years, so we would not allow this to continue, that is why we have to get those who are the perpetrators of this act and bring them to book”

“Besides that, government is doing the best it can do to ensure that the corpses lying in the mortuary are given the necessary support for burial by their families and for those that are in the hospital.’’
