‘Idomas Contributing To Development Of Ekiti’



The General Chairman of people of Idoma people in Ekiti state, Dr Otache Oyigocho has said they are in the state to contribute their quota to the development of the state.

Speaking at a public forum of the group in Ado Ekiti, the state capital, Oyigocho said over 15, 0000 of his people are resident in Ekiti state.

He said his people are spread across towns, villages and farmsteads of the state and are contributing their quotas to the economic development of the state.

Oyigocho added that the number has since increased as more Idomas are relocating to do business due to abundance fertile farmlands and prevailing peace in the state.

He lauded the people oriented programmes and policies of the Ekiti state government.

The community from the middle belt of Nigeria, posited that Dr Kayode Fayemi-led administration within just six months in office has brought smiles to the face of all residents including non natives in the state.

While pledging their support for the state government, Oyigocho who is also Ochidoma, appeal to governor Fayemi to give recognition to the group by appointing at least one of them in his government.

According to him, “The Idomas are known for hard work and honesty wherever they find themselves.The last census we took in December, 2017, we have over 120,000 Idomas residing in Ekiti.’’
