Fayemi, Others Hail Egbeyemi At 75

Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, has congratulated his Deputy Otunba Bisi Egbeyemi, who turns 75 years old on Wednesday.

The Governor, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Yinka Oyebode, described Otunba Egbeyemi as a reputable leader, dependable ally, seasoned administrator and astute manager of men and materials.

The Governor said Otunba Egbeyemi’s pedigree as an experienced lawyer, grassroots mobiliser and seasoned administrator as well as his high level of integrity makes him an asset to the administration.

” On behalf of the Government and good people of Ekiti State, I congratulate Otunba Egbeyemi and wish him a happy birthday today and pray that God continues to bless him with good health and wisdom to continue to make remarkable contributions to the restoration of our dear state’ , the Governor added.

Ekiti State Deputy Governor, Otunba Bisi Egbeyemi also got a surprise birthday bash from workers in his office on as he turned 75 years.

Egbeyemi, who was born on 8th May, 1944 in Ado-Ekiti, his hometown, said he didn’t plan to mark the milestone.

Unknown to Egbeyemi, the staff had organized themselves at the Conference Hall, Office of the Deputy Governor, which was decorated with a life-size flex banner with a big cake on the table.

On arrival in the hall, the workers sang the birthday song for the Deputy Governor who expressed surprise and beamed with smiles showing gratitude for the special treat.

Egbeyemi who appreciated the management and staff of his office for celebrating his 75th birthday said reaching the age of 75 was by God’s grace to whom he would continue to be grateful as long as he lives.

A statement by Egbeyemi Special Assistant (Media), Mr Odunayo Ogunmola said the deputy governor later cut the birthday cake amidst cheers before departing for the weekly State Executive Council meeting.

Egbeyemi said: “I am surprised not because you don’t have the money to do all these things but I didn’t tell anybody because I didn’t want to celebrate it this year for one reason or the other but God is making it possible very soon.

“I thank you for this and I thank God for my life, that I am already 75 years is enough to thank God and for all God has done for me concerning all my achievements.

“I thank you mostly, those I had worked with and those I am working with. They have helped me to move higher.

“The Lord will also help you to move higher, it is well you and you shall live long and be older than myself.”

The Deputy Governor further advised workers to always cooperate with their superiors and never pull anybody down.

Speaking earlier, the Permanent Secretary, Office of the Deputy Governor, Mr. Sunday Komolafe, noted that Egbeyemi deserved to be celebrated for his contribution to the development of the state.
