IBB Varsity Partners Foreign Governments On Arabic,French Languages

Ibrahim Badamasi Bangida University, Lapai, has established linkages and partnership with some foreign governments, agencies and institutions towards uplifting academic excellence in Arabic and French Languages in the University.

The Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Mohammed Nasir Maiturare disclosed this  at the 13th inaugural lecture of the university at the main campus, Lapai.

He expressed satisfaction with the efforts of Arabic Department towards making the learning of Arabic language available to members of the university, which is in line  with the goal of management to make every staff and student proficient in one foreign language.

Maiturare commended the Senate Committee on Seminars and Conferences for the success of the occasion and congratulated the inaugural lecturer for the  scholarly presentation .

The inaugural lecture delivered by  an Arabic scholar in the Department of Arabic Studies, Faculty of Languages and Communication Studies, Prof. Aliyu Muhammad Jamiu has “Nigerian Literature : Effective Tool to Combat Societal Challenges” as its theme.

He opined that society  had continued to be faced with increasing rate of serious social issues that were not permitting peaceful coexistence of various nation-states; pointing out that recent emergi ng social issues in Nigeria call for deliberate and strategic concerns of scholars in ivory towers and relevant stakeholders in the nation building project to come up with veritable ways of bringing the challenges to certain level of bearest minimum.

The Arabic scholar disclosed that, although there have been conscious efforts by every successive government in the country to combat the menace, none has produced the desired results.

He, therefore, called on Nigerian Arabic poets, playwrights and Arabic literary critics to redouble their efforts at producing literary works that could reduce societal menace in the country.

Earlier, the Chairman, Senate Committee on Seminars and Conferences, Professor Victor Kolawole, had commended the determination of the inaugural lecturer to make intellectual presentation on a very topical and contemporary development issue that would assist in reducing the level of social decadence in the society.
