Police Kill 3 Kidnappers, Arrest 9, Rescue 16 In Niger

Policemen in Niger State have killed three kidnap suspects, arrested nine others and rescued 16 of their victims in various parts of the state.

The  kidnappers died during a fierce gun battle with the police in Kompani Bobi area of Mariga local government area.

LEADERSHIP recently reported the abduction of two Chinese contractors working on the Kompani Bobi Road.

Findings revealed that kidnapping cases had increased recently in parts of the state which prompted the inspector-general of police (IGP), Mohammed Abubakar Adamu, to deploy men of “Operation Puff Adder” to the state under the supervision of the Niger State commissioner of police, Ibrahim Sabo.

The command police public relations officer, Mr. Mohammed Abubakar Dan inna, confirmed the feat of the police even as he said that the officers had intensified the manhunt for other kidnap suspects now on the run.

He said that two AK 47 rifles, one berretta pistol, locally-made pistols, and 109 AK 47 ammunition were recovered from the suspects

He said: “The police command under the leadership of the commissioner of police, Ibrahim Sabo Umar, will continue to double efforts in its determination to nip in the bud all violent crimes in the state”

Consequently, he said that the police commissioner solicited for the cooperation of residents in volunteering useful information in tackling the criminal activities in the state.
