Political Class Fueling Kidnaping , Banditary , Other Crimes Across Nigeria – Buratai.



The Chief of Army staff, Lt General Tukur Yusuf Buratai has said that politicians who lost in the last 2019 general elections are fueling kidnapping, banditry and other crimes across the country.
The Army Chief further said that the Army had strong evidence to prove that the political class are responsible for the Crimes, but is still  being conscious not to get it wrong.
Buratai disclosed this on Wednesday while receiving the chairman House Committee on Army at the Theatre Command of Operation Lafiya Dole , after laying the wreath for the fallen heroes.
The COAS said  :” Myraids of security challenges we are facing right now in the northwest, north central and other parts of the country, I want to beleive and rightly so is fall out of just concluded general election.
” There are political class intrests . Politicians in particular who saw their defeats as a way of trying to revenge, are sponsoring these criminal activities even the bandittary, the farmers and herders clash. There are strong political undertone and strong political influnces including kidnapping.
“We use this opportunity to call on Members of House of Representatives to prevail on some of these politicains, to really look at national intrest first before any political or sectional intrest. We have some strong evidences but we still being consicious so that we dont get it wrong but the best is to advise these politician.”Buratai said.
He pleaded with the politicians to desist from  activities that will inflict pain on civilians , and asured that all criminals will be dealt with in accordance with law of the land .
The COAS also appreciated the visist of the committee  members and assured them that their visit will definitely heighten the high morale of the troops and give them more confidence by way of gingering the troops in their operations.
He appealed to the House committee to address challenges and problems of manpower and logistics the Nigerian Army is confronted with towards making the Nigerian Army more professional.
Earlier, the Chairman of the House Committee on Army, Hon. Rimammade Shawulu Kwewum who led other 9 members on the visits said they were in Maiduguri at the Operation LAFIYA Dole headquarters as part of their  legislative  oversight function to access activities of the Nigerian Army and recieve briefings on the activities of the Operation LAFIYA Dole Theatre Command .
He also assured that whatever the committee received will be incorporated in the final report being prepared by the committee for onward presentation to the House while commending the Nigerian Army for its achievements.
The committee members were earlier before the briefing at the Maimalari Cantonment Cemetery where they layed wreath to the fallen heroes in the  fight against Boko Haram insurgency in the north east and also visited the Hospital and  Medical  Services Centre of Maimalari Cantonment Maiduguri  to sympathise with wounded soldiers
