At least three people were killed on Monday including one Mobile Police man and a military personal in the ongoing Tiv/Jukun crisis at the Benue/Taraba bolder in Wukari.
This was disclose to LEADERSHIP by the chairman Wukari local government council Hon. Daniel Adi while speaking on the ongoing crisis between the Tiv and Jukun tribes in Wukari local government area of Taraba state.
Adi accused Tiv militias of killing one Mr. Moses Carpenter and his son who went to their farm to plant Yam seeds in the early hours of Monday.
He stated that Mr. Moses Carpenter and his son were killed in their farm by Tiv militias along Vaase village which is a bolder area between Benue and Taraba state.
He further disclosed that the joint patrol team of Mobile Police which has been stationed at Vaase was attacked by some militia group, the resulted to the killing of a Mobile Police man while other police that were in the police truck sustain injuries.
The chairman further stated that while the military joint tax force learnt of the incident that a vehicle belonging to the joint Tax Force was attack, the Military step to rush to the scene, unfortunately the vehicle belonging to the Military men had accident on the way and killed one military personal while other people in the vehicle also sustain injuries.
“One Moses Capenter and his son were killed by Tiv people, I did not say unknown gun men, I said Tiv people, him and his son went to farm to plant their Yam seeds, they were killed at about 8:56 yesterday been Monday.
“also, a police vehicle that went to Vaase to change those that have been on duty for the last one week, while they change their men and they were coming back to Wukari, the vehicle of the police was attacked, one police man was killed while the other police who were trying to defend themselves sustain series of injuries.
“In the process of going to the area where the police man was shot and killed, a military truck conveying some military joint Tax Force had accident along Gbeji Vaase road, one military man died while others also sustain degrees of injuries.
“The police Man who died and the others that sustain injuries were taken to Jalingo while the military man and those who sustained injuries were taken from Zaki-Biam to Wukari for treatment.
Adi call on the people to remain calm as government was dying every thing to stop the crisis.
When contacted, the police spokes Man DSP David Misar told LEADERSHIP that the police truck carrying police on patrol was ambushed and attacked in Wukari by suspected Tiv militia.
Misar said the police men were coming from a location where they went to keep peace among the Tiv and Jukuns in Wukari local government area of Taraba state.
He disclose that in the attack, two police men sustain injuries, they were evacuated to Jalingo where one of them died in the course of the injuries.
