Indian Cricket League Unveiled

The president of the Indian Cricket League (ICL), Mr Saad Siddiqui has officially unveiled the Indian Cricket league and logo.

The unveiling ceremony was a moment to behold in history as the league’s president, Siddiqui said the ideas behind the unveiling was to let everyone know the whole essence of the Indian Cricket League and what it stands for in regards to cricket in Abuja and Nigeria as whole.

He said the idea was to create standard league for the Nigeria’s cricket family in Abuja and also increasing the stakes of cricket in the country.

“The league was inspired by the success of the Nigeria Cricket U-19 Team that qualified for the world cup earlier this year in Namibia.

“The Indian Cricket league board has had the successful discussions with the Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF) in areas of sponsoring grassroots development of Cricket in Abuja,” he said.

Siddiqui further revealed the process that would enable the clubs to bid for players for certain amount from the pool of players in Abuja.

“The rules and playing condition  conforms with the International Cricket Council (ICC) 2017 code which is the latest,” he said.

Siddiqui noted that the existing additions are the ‘super sixes’ hit a certain target on the pitch with the ball while bating gives you a chance to win N5, 000.

Speaking at the unveiling ceremony, president of the Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF), Prof. Yahaya Ukwanaya, represented by Mr. Emeka Igwilo, commended the Indian Cricket League president and his board for the initiative and its planned partnership with grassroots development.

“The federation will always make available the right structure and platform for genuine developers of the game to thrive and also provide support in areas where necessary,” he said.
