An Internally Displaced Person (IDP), Bukar Awani, has allegedly stabled a colleague, Tijani Ahmadu, to death at the Bakassi IDPs’ Camp in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.
The sad incident was disclosed to LEADERSHIP by the head of Operations of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Usman Kachalla, who explained the crisis started from a fight between the children of the deceased and the suspect.
He said the deceased who travelled to Monguno was told of the fight between the children by his wife. According to Kachalla, one hour after, the two children came together and the two families agreed to let the matter end since it was purely children’s affair.
Kachalla said: “Then all of a sudden, the suspect (Bukar Awani) went in brought out a knife and stabbed the deceased to death. We reported the matter to the police and the case is still with them.”
The police public relations officer, Mr. Usman Sadiq said Awani allegedly stabbed Ahmadu from Monguno, with a knife during a fight in the camp. He said that the victim died as a result of the attack, which occurred on Tuesday last week.
“The victim was found in the pool of his blood and taken to the police station at the camp,’’ he said, adding that Ahmadu died at Umaru Shehu Specialist Hospital, Maiduguri where he was rushed to for treatment.
