Reprisal Attack: Cars, Houses Razed In 4 Jos Communities



Tension  has enveloped  Dutse Uku, Cele Bridge, Tina junction and Rikkos all in Jos North local government area of Plateau state following reports  that one person was killed and as a result youth in the area went on reprisal attack burning down houses and vehicles in the area.

As at the time of filing this report, our correspondent could not  verify what led to this round of breakdown of law and order in the area but reports filtering in said the corpse of a young man had been discovered around Anguwan Damisa in Dutse Uku.

As a result of this development,youth in the area were said to be angry and consequently, went beserk attacking presumed enemies and burning down houses and vehicles on sight. Thereafter, gunshots rented  the air from all sides with people running helter skelter, including those coming back from church service and passersby in the area.

A witness confirmed to our correspondent that men of ‘Operation Safe Haven’ had been deployed to the areas to calm the situation, adding that, “presently, security agents are stationed between Dutse Uku and Anguwan Damisa”.

According to him, there are also men of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and the personnel of Nasarawa Gwom police division.”

Meanwhile,the public relations officer of the Plateau police command, DSP Terna Tyopev said, “We have received reports of tension around Dutse Uku, Rikkos, Cele Bridge and we have mobilised our personnel to the area.

He maintained that “As we speak, the Area Commander, Jos Metro is there on ground,”.
