Army Provides Potable Water For Borno Communities

Two Borno communities have been provided with potable water by the Nigeria Army as part of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS’) drive to improve the living conditions of its host communities with infrastructure and social amenities

Acting director, Army Public Relations, Col. Sagir Musa, in a statement he issued yesterday, said that the 29 Task Force Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Benisheikh, recently constructed a borehole each for Borgozo and Benisheik communities in Kaga local government area of Borno State.

He said that the gesture would prevent water borne disease among troops who might seek for water from other sources.

Musa added that the brigade’s production and packaging of water had enabled the formation to extend its humanitarian activities to include weekly distribution of water to the host communities.

The army spokesman said that in a similar vein, the formation has assisted children with clothing and other educational materials in the communities as well as portable drinking water daily to other returnees.

He said: “The army formation has also been distributing clothing materials to children in the area as well as feeding over 2,000 children weekly.”

Musa further said that the formation cultivated a Dates palm plantation in Borgozo as a source of food for the inhabitants when they finally return after the Boko Haram conflict.
