Labour Institute Holds Workshop On Industrial Relation Practice

As part of moves to ensure maintenance of industrial peace and avoid unnecessary strikes by Labour unions, the Michael Imoudu National Institute for Labour Studies (MINILS) in partnership with the  Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF) has said it will tommorow  hold a  National Workshop on Industrial Relations Practice in the Public Service.

The workshop which has the theme “Managing the Challenges of Emerging Realities in Labour Management Negotiations in the Federal Civil Service” will bring together labour leaders and government officials under one roof to brainstorm on how to ensure social dialogue.

According to a press statement signed by the Director-General/Chief Executive of the Institute, Alhaji. Ishaq Alabi, the workshop will serve as a platform for proactive and routine dialogues, consultations and negotiations, aimed at ensuring the sustenance of industrial peace in the public service and by implication, the country at large.

He said the objective of the workshop is to share practical strategies that would develop and sustain a peaceful and harmonious employee – employer relation in Nigeria through the identification of emerging industrial relations issues and challenges.

The target participants at the national workshop include Permanent Secretaries, Directors of Administration, Establishments, Pensions and Training, Human Resources/Personnel Management in Ministries, Departments and Agencies at Federal, State and Local Levels and among others.
