S’East APC Groups Make Case For Majority Leader, SGF.



Two South East groups under the umbrella of South East Presidential Support Committee and South East Equity Alliance has tasked President Muhammadu Buhari and the leadership of the national Assembly to cede the positions of the Secretary to the Secretary to the Federal Government (SGF) and the Majority Leader of the Senate to the South East.

The group which specifically made a case for Senator Rochas Okorocha to emerge as the Majority Leader of the Senate because of his contribution to the success of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the zone, hinged this demand on the fact that under the current arrangement, the region is left out in critical leadership positions.

At a joint press conference addressed by Engr. Chambalen Adiaso and Comrade Maxwell Okoye in Abuja, the group also congratulated President Buhari on his recent victory at the polls even as they urged him to use the victory in consolidating on the socio-economic progress commenced in his first term.

“Nigeria is a great country with six geopolitical zones and in the interest of equity and equal representation, it demand as a right that the position of Senate Majority Leader be ceded to the South East.

“We have consulted widely with all critical stakeholders from within and outside the South East zone, and there are overwhelming support for Senator Anayo Rochas Okorocha to immediately declare his interest to occupy the position of the Majority Leader of the 9th Senate.

“Senator Anayo Rochas Okorocha was the sole financier of all the activities of the South East Presidential Support Committee as well as the number one financier (living or dead) of the All Progressives Congress inn he South East. Senator Okorocha was the only APC governor in the south East, and a founding member of the APC merger.

“As a result, we call on the APC to rekindle the spirit of reward and rally round Distinguished Senator Rochas Okorocha in this journey to reintegrate the people of the South East into the mainstream politics of the APC”.
