The Theatre Commander of Operation Lafiya Dole, Maj. Gen Benson Akinroluyo has charged troops fighting insurgency in the Northeast to take the battle to the enclaves of the Boko Haram terrorists and remain in the offensive all the time.
The Theatre Commander said this yesterday when he paid a morale boosting visit to troops of 120 battalion Goniri, in Yobe State, following their exploit last week Wednesday against Boko Haram terrorists, where several ammunition and gun trucks were recovered, and many terrorists killed, without casualty on the side of the troops.
Maj Gen Akinroluyo who inspected the ammunition and the gun trucks recovered by the troops, assured that with determined and reinvigorated efforts of the troops against the insurgents, the Boko Haram insurgency would soon be a thing of the past.
He said: “We want you to continue to hunt for the terrorists, we don’t need to allow the battle to be fought in our camps. We should be on the offensive and hunt for the terrorists wherever they are, and I know you can do it in line with your battalion motto which is ‘forward ever’”.
“ We are on the right path and we are doing our best. I have been going round other locations and commending them. I have come to Goniri because of the huge number of successes recorded, but others are doing fine too. I have gone there to encourage them.
“The Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Tukur Yusuf Buratai has donated cows to you for special meal. So I want you to continue to win cows from the Chief of Army Staff. We want you to continue to hunt for the Boko Haram terrorists “, Akinroluyo added.
He called on Nigerians to collaborate with the Army to bring the war to an end, noting that with collective support from everyone, peace would be achieved.
He further commended the troops for their ability to keep the general area safe and the commanders for a job well-done.
