Operatives of the Lagos State police command have nabbed two suspected tanker hijackers who specialised in robbing tankers and hijacking Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) commonly referred to as Petrol .
The police in a statement made available to Journalist on Sunday, disclosed that the incident happened at the weekend in Lagos at about 1900hours, acting on the strength of information from a reliable source.
According to the statement signed by the command’s spokesperson, Bala Elkana, a deputy superintendent of police, police operatives from Itire Division led by the divisional police officer, Barkfur Kromkyes, intercepted a DAF 85 Tanker with registration number Gage 743 XN loaded with 40,000 litres of Petroleum Products along Iyana Itire pin down point, Mile 2.
“The truck driver, Muhammadu Mande, 42- years old of Yauri, Kebbi State and the conductor, Lawali Usman ‘m’ 34years, of Minna, Niger State were rescued unhurt,” he said.
According to him, the two suspects namely, Charles Obllomo , 37-years old of No 22 Bara Ayetoro Street off Boundary, Apapa and Osita Onyeka, 35-years old of Wasai area, Orile were arrested.
