The Nigeria Security Civil and Defence Corps (NSCDC) has inaugurated a coronavirus isolation centre in Enugu.
While commissioning the centre, the state commandant of the NSCDC, Everastius Obiyo, disclosed that the centre has 150 -bed spaces.
Obiyo, who inaugurated the centre yesterday at the NSCDC Training School, Achi in Oji River local government area, stated that the facility will provide services for suspected cases of COVID-19 in the state.
He said: “NSCDC is putting these facilities in place to combat the virus in the advent of its outbreak in the state even though we are not praying for that.
“I want to assure Enugu residents that we have the facilities such as ventilators, temperature gauge at the centre,”, he said.
According to him, he command has provided necessary logistics needed for the centre to function effectively, adding that additional logistics will soon arrive in the centre.
On the location of the centre, the NSCDC boss said that the command has enough operational vehicles to convey suspected persons to the centre, adding that it will deploy more vehicles if need arises.
“Distance will not be a barrier to convene anyone suspected to have contacted the virus to the centre as we have enough operational vehicles at our disposal”, he said.
