The land dispute between Aku and Mon communities of Mbapen clan in Gwer local government area of Benue State yesterday has resulted in the death of one person, leaving many others with various degrees of injuries.
Sources said that one Tseaa Wanpera was allegedly burnt in his house while his in-law was shot in the process with another villager identified as Iorahom, declared missing.
LEADERSHIP gathered from sources that with the arrival of the police at the scene of the crisis normalcy have returned.
“With the arrival of the Police, there is a little calm in the area, however one person was burnt in his house while his in-law was shot and as I speak he is receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital and Iorahom is still missing”, one of the sources said.
It was also gathered that there is serious tension in Taraku town which is the major town of one of the communities in the dispute and all businesses have been shutdown.
When contacted, the police spokesman, Catherine Anene, who confirmed the incident, however, said that “I’m yet to receive a report on the death of anyone.”
She said that all the affected victims were in the hospital receiving treatment.
