The candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, (PDP) in the forth coming bye election of Imo North (Okigwe) senatorial district of Imo state, Hon Patrick Ndubueze has dispelled the rumours making the rounds that he has withdrawn from the race.
The seat of Imo North senatorial zone at the National Assembly was declared vacant by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) following the sudden demise of late senator Benjamin Uwajumogu who was chairman Senate Committee on Labour and Employment.
Speaking to newsmen in Abuja, Hon Ndubueze who was the party’s senatorial candidate in the 2019 election described the promoters of such falsehood as enemies of democracy and development of the good people of Okigwe.
The former Federal law maker declared that he is still the People’s Democratic party (PDP) candidate and in the race and the candidate to beat as there are no plans by his party is to substitute his name at the Independent National Electoral Commission.
Hon Ndubueze who recalled how he suffered for the party and allegedly won the 2019 senatorial election and was taken away from him by anti democratic forces said those spreading the rumours of his withdrawal from the race were afraid of his towering credentials and chances at the election.
The former house of Representative member , however threatened to drag to court any body tarnishing his reputation and image by insinuating his withdrawal from the yet to be sheduled election.
He said ” who is spreading this wicked rumours, has the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) brought out the time table for the election?, anybody who wants to jump out of the PDP is on his own but I will deal with any body spreading falsehood to tarnishing my image, such person will not go free.
These are people who don’t want development for the people of Okigwe, you will see what God will do.”
