No fewer than four persons including three children of the same parents yesterday lost their lives after they were knocked down by a vehicle that drove on a wrong direction at Sangotedo area of Lagos State.
Our correspondent gathered that the incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday when the siblings arrived at the scene of the accident to help their mother who sells nearby, before being hit by the vehicle.
One of the witnesses said: “I visited the scene of this accident at Sangotedo this morning that claimed the lives of three siblings who returned to assist their mother who sells nearby after the morning walkout. The driver that killed them took one way.
“This accident happened this morning due to the motorists plying one-way,” he said.
According to him, the vehicle cleared the lifeless bodies of the yet to be identified persons inside a drainage before skidding into the drainage channels.
He urged to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to appeal to the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) to be more effective in their duties to curb such tragic occurrence.
Confirming the accident, the public relations officer of Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Mr Nosa Okunbor said, “Indeed, an accident occurred earlier this morning at Ogudu that left a few people dead.
“However, the distress call was a call escalated through the 767/112 Lagos emergency toll-free lines and was attended to by LASAMBUS. Therefore, LASEMA does not have a report or statement on it.”
