China yesterday delivered N5 million worth of medical supplies to 100 FCT schools to help in its fight against COVID-19 pandemic.
The donation presented to the schools through the Chinese Embassy in Abuja at the FCT minister’s office, include 100 forehead thermometer, 200 electro thermometers, 200 googles, 4000 pieces of disposable medical face masks, 5000 pairs of disposable medical gloves, packages of health wet tissues and medicated soaps.
The cultural counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in Nigeria who represented the Ambassador, Li Xuda, said it is friendship and solidarity that makes the Chinese government to take the development and health of Nigerian schools into consideration especially at this period when the number of confirmed Covid-19 cases and deaths is increasing.
Xuda said the Chinese Embassy takes the development of Nigerian schools and their students’ health into consideration.
According to him, “At this critical moment with the aim to enhance bilateral cooperation in fighting the Covid-19 outbreak the Chinese Embassy donates over N5 million worth of medical materials to 100 FCT schools.”
Xuda explained that when FCT reopens its schools and distributes these medical materials to 100 schools, these schools will have the capability to timely confirm which student has a fever and who should be quarantined without delay.
The representative of the FCT minister, Samuel Atang who received the materials said that all hands have been on deck to tackle the menace of Covid-19 headlong.
