NN Commissions School, Church Projects In C/River, Rivers

The Nigerian Navy has commissioned three multi-million naira school and church projects in Cross River and neigbouring Rivers State.
The projects which is part of activity to mark the Navy’s week celebration that coincided with the NN’s 64th anniversary includes, renovation of a two hundred capacity Boys Hostel in Akpabuyoin Cross River State and the renovation of NOP Ikuru Protestant church, and the renovation of Saidu Girls Hostels, Navy Secondary school Bokokiri in Rivers State.
Speaking in Calabar, shortly after commissioning the the 200 capacity Boys Hostel in Akpabyo,Flag Officer Commanding Eastern Naval Command, Rear Admiral David Adeniran stated that with the renovation of the Hostel, students of the institution can afford to have a conducive learning environment.
To take care of the spiritual needs of its personnel, the Eastern Naval Command also commissioned the NOP Ikuru Protestant church,remodeled Otiko and the renovated Saidu Girls hostels at the Navy Secondary school Bokokiri via the use of virtual meeting (in proxy) by the unit commanders in Rivers State.
Adeniran who urged members of the host communities to guard the projects jealously as if it were personal projects stressing that the projects would not only add value to the lives of its personnel alone but also to the lives of members of the host communities.
Earlier before embarking on commissioning of school projects in Akapbuyo, Cross River State, the FOC told journalists that the command had given palliative and distributed personal protective Equipment PPE to its host communities to ensure that the fight towards the spread of corona virus pandemic doesn’t spread in the area adding that the palliative is in commemoration of the the navy 64 Anniversary.
The FOC charged Unit Commanders in the command to do everything within their reach to ensure that corona virus pandemic doesn’t spread into the barracks within their operational zone.
When asked why the command decided to embark on commissioning of projects via virtual meeting rather than organizing the meeting via the conventional way of face to face interaction, the FOC averred that the virtual meeting is in line with the command’s quest to COVID-19 doesn’t harm its personnel.
He said that the command has concluded every arrangement to commission other projects such as Headquarters Eastern Naval Command ENC Sickbay.
