Give Us Information On Criminal Hideout- Buratai Tasks Public



The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai has urged members of the public to support security agents with useful information against all criminal elements in their areas.

Speaking at an event to mark the end of this year’s army day celebration at Command Secondary School, Faskari in Katsina state, Buratai said divulging of vital information to security agents would help greatly in tracking down such criminals, before they could harm innocent persons.

The army chief however pointed out that the army will not relent in fighting the recalcitrant bandits until they (the bandits) were completely defeated and peace restored in all parts of the country.

The COAS who was represented by the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 1 Division, Jos, Maj. Gen. Nuhu Angbazo, however, distributed palliatives to 500 displaced persons and 10,000 note books to primary school pupils.

The army boss said the gesture was a demonstration of the good relationship between the army and civilians.

He said the distribution of the palliatives which formed part of this year’s Nigerian Army Day Celebration was low keyed due to the corona virus pandemic.

He noted that the notebooks were meant for primary school pupils in the area many of whom had been displaced from their villages because of armed banditry activities so that they could continue to study in their current places of temporary existence.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, the Council Clerk of Faskari local government area, Alhaji Aliyu El-Lawal commended the army for the gesture saying it would go a long way in cushioning the effect of their plight.

LEADERSHIP reports that this year’s Army Day Celebration holding at the Super Camp IV with the theme “Nigeria’s Territorial Defence and Sovereignty: Imperatives for Nigerian Army’s Sustained Training and Operations” as its theme.

The food palliatives include 25kg bag of rice, cooking oil and noodles for each beneficiary.
