Head Of Service Urges Reversal Of NASS Salary Structure

The Head of Service, Dr Folasade Yemi-Esan, has urged the leadership of the National Assembly to reverse the Consolidated Salary Structure (CONLESS) of the National Assembly.

Yemi-Esan, at a meeting with the President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan; and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, argued that the processes that resulted in the current salary structure of civil servants in the National Assembly were faulty and illegal.

Esan picked holes in the amendment made by the 8th National Assembly to effect a consolidated salary structure for civil servants in the National Assembly.

The head of service at the meeting noted that the National Assembly ought to reverse the salary structure currently being operated by the National Assembly, stressing that the National Assembly is not different from the core civil service to warrant a consolidated salary structure.

She however advised that the salary structure like the condition of service be discontinued and reversed for due process to be followed.

If the leadership of the National Assembly gives in to her advice, staff of the National Assembly will cease to benefit from the consolidated salary structure.
