The Katsina State government, has again announced a downward  review of the 2020 budget to N179.1 billion.

Addressing journalists after the State’s Executive Council meeting presided by Governor Aminu Bello Masari, the commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Alhaji Faruq Lawal Jobe, stated that due to the economic challenges caused by COVID-19 and the fall in international oil price, the budget had be reviewed downward.

He explained that the state budget, which was approved in January, this year was earlier reviewed following the review made by the Federal Government when it cut oil price bench mark from $57  per barrel to $30 per barrel, stressing further that the Federal Government also for the second time reviewed the oil price bench mark from 30 to 25 dollars per barrel which also called for a review in the state’s budget.

“The executive council meeting further cuts down the size of the state budget to conform with economic realities of the time. The total budget size now will be N179, 199, 378, 411-00k as against the previous revised budget of N205, 453, 094, 255-00k”, he said.
