Commandant of NSCDC, FCT Command, Patrick Ukpan, while parading the suspects in Abuja at the weekend, explained that they were caught by men and officers of the command based on intelligence.
Ukpan added that the two suspected vandals were involved in stealing kerbed stones at the expressway while the four suspected illegal petroleum products dealers were arrested at Jahi district of the FCT.
“We are here to parade two sets of suspects in our custody. The first set is suspected vandals, who were caught based on intelligence, vandalising kerbed stones, at the express way”.
“The second set of suspects is illegal dealers in petroleum products. The illegal activities took place around Jahi district of the FCT. So, based on intelligence, our anti-vandals department arrested them in the act.”
The commandant disclosed that investigation is ongoing to get to the root of the matter so as to discover their collaborators, after which the suspects would be arraigned in court.
He advised those who have criminal tendencies to desist from it, even as he called on FCT residents to be vigilant and always report to the authorities, any illegal activities in their areas.
